Lieutenant Colonel Miller was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. He began his military service in 1994 when he enlisted in the Marine Corps and underwent basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. Following basic training, he underwent training as a Small Arms Repairer before reporting to Ordnance Maintenance Company, 2d Maintenance Battalion, 2d Force Service Support Group. Then in August 1995, Lieutenant Colonel Miller reported to Marine Expeditionary Unit Service Support Group 24 where he completed two deployments with Landing Force Sixth Fleet.
In December of 1997, Lieutenant Colonel Miller was selected to participate in the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and reported to the University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho in September 1998. Upon graduation in December of 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant.
Following the Basic School and the Logistics Officer Course, in 2002 Lieutenant Colonel Miller reported to Marine Aircraft Logistics Squadron 26 where he served as the Ground Logistics Officer and participated in two deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In May of 2006, he received orders to the 7th Marine Regiment in Twentynine Palms, California and was assigned as the S4 Officer for 3d Battalion, 7th Marines. While there, he deployed twice in support of Operation Iraq Freedom.
In June of 2009, Lieutenant Colonel Miller received orders to attend Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) in Quantico, Virginia. Following graduation from EWS, he served as a summer augmentation platoon commander at Officers Candidate School before reporting to Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) where he worked as a project officer with Program Manager, Light Tactical Vehicles. During this time Lieutenant Colonel Miller first served as the Integrations Officer for the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), and later also served as the HMMWV Project Officer.
In July of 2013, Lieutenant Colonel Miller reported for duty as a student at the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College where he earned a Master of Military Studies graduate degree. Afterward, in July of 2104, he reported to 3d Marine Logistics Group (MLG) in Okinawa, Japan where he first served as the Operations Officer for Combat Logistics Regiment 3, and then as an exercise plans officer in the 3d MLG G3 Plans office.
After designation as a Ground Acquisition Officer, in February 2017 Lieutenant Colonel Miller reported to MCSC/PEO Enterprise Information Systems as a Team Lead in Program Manager, Logistics Integrated Information Systems. From May of 2019 to June of 2022, Lieutenant Colonel Miller then served as the Current Technology Officer within the Science and Technology Division of the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory. Following that assignment, from July 2022 to June of 2024 Lieutenant Colonel Miller served as the Product Manager for the Marine Corps’ portion of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle Program. Lieutenant Colonel Miller began his current position as the Executive Officer of Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity in August of 2024.
